Experienced psychiatrist providing evaluation and treatment of anxiety, depression and lifecycle issues in women (including those related to pregnancy, postpartum and perimenopause).
Dr. George Gettys, M.D. - (815) 455-7100
Dr. Gettys obtained his MD from Bangalore University. He completed his psychiatry residency from Chicago Medical School. He also completed fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2014 from the University of Michigan Health System and Sleep Medicine in 2015 from University of Chicago. He has worked as an attending child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist at the Capt. James A Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago, Illinois from 2015. In January of 2017, he was appointed as the Medical Director of outpatient and consultation psychiatry at the Capt. James A Lovell Center.
Dr. Gettys is passionate about psychiatry and sleep medicine in addition to mental health policy and access to care. He is a member of the telehealth committee at Capt. James Lovell Center, and believes that the future of care delivery is inherently linked to technology. He is very comfortable with technology, medical informatics, and tele-psychiatry services. Additionally, He is comfortable with substance abuse and addiction populations and holds DEA license for opioid dependence treatment.

As a clinical psychiatrist Dr. Jacobs provides treatment (both psychotherapy and psychotropic medication) for anxiety, mood disorders, attention deficit disorders and specializes in the treatment of bipolar disorder giving special attention to diet and sleep patterns. Dr. Jacobs is also Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.
